Picture Perfect Weekend

This weekend was so relaxing.  I caught up on sleep, cleaned the house, did laundry, hung out with friends, watched some movies, enjoyed our fire pit, and enjoyed the nice weather (even though it rained one day).

On Friday we had some friends over and grilled out and then played games.

Saturday was gorgeous.  We had french toast for breakfast and watched movies.  For dinner we decided to grill hot dogs on our fire pit.  You can’t have a fire without making smores!  We had the marshmallows and the graham crackers but we didn’t have chocolate so we made our own!

Look at the fire burn!

We took bittersweet dark chocolate, semi sweet chocolate chips, cream cheese frosting, powdered sugar, regular sugar, and cappuccino flavored sugar and melted it all together.  We then poured it onto a baking sheet and froze it so we could end up breaking it into the perfect size pieces.

Let’s make smores!

YUM!
This helped melt the chocolate since it was so hot!

On Sunday I slept in and when I woke up the husband decided he wanted to try making dinner in the fire pit.  We pulled out the pork tenderloin and looked up some recipes and decided to make Bourbon Glazed pork.  After we marinaded the pork we wrapped it in foil and wet paper bags and wet newspaper.  We then placed it in the fire pit under all the embers and put a board over it to keep the heat inside and the rain away!  Three hours later we had a very tender piece of pork.

HOT!

The pork is cooking underneath!

Your smores look scrumptious but the picture of the roasting pork made me laugh. I’ll bet the smell was heavenly and had the neighbors scratching their heads trying to figure out where it was coming from!

The pork was so wrapped up that you couldn’t smell it that much but it sure smelled good when we unwrapped it!
